The Crankworx World Tour season opener just started last week in Rotorua, New Zealand and T7N´s Tomas Slavik, the defending King Of Crankworx champion, started the fight for the crown in the best way he possibly could even though it was very difficult for him. Slavik had a hard crash in last training session before the Pumptrack main event and x ray showed 2 small fractures in his left wrist, but Slavik didn’t give up… with injured wrist he was able to score points and get the podium finishes at all events he attended. Final result is 5th place at Pumptrack, 4th place at Speed N Style and unbelievable 2nd place at Air DH, where Slavik took a risk and raced on a hardtail bike! True effort and motivation - King Of Crankworx 2016!
“So many things happened, where to start? Well, I was really looking forward to come back to Rotorua as I had so much great memories from last year, but after my crash right before main event at Pumptrack I thought its all over and fight for defending King Of Crankworx title came to an end. I had a hard crash and injured my wrist. At the end we tried to tape it as hard as possible and gave it a try. It wasn’t ideal at all, but somehow it worked out and I was able to race all events! In pumptrack I felt really strong after 2nd finish at quali, but then I went against, later that day winner, Keegan Wright who was quicker by 0,08 s and ended up on 5th spot. At Speed N Style my wrist felt really bad and even few minutes before quali I still wasn’t decided if I will be racing or not. I decided to give it a go and to my big surprise I ended up again on 2nd place. In the main event I ended up on 4th place and I was absolutely stoked due to conditions of my wrist. Last event was Air DH, where I did a big and crazy decision - I decided to race on my hardtail bike! I knew its gonna be scatchy and wild option, but I knew it will be really fast option. After finishing on 2nd place just 2 seconds from 1st place I guess it was a god damn good decision. Wild week at Rotorua is over, Im super stoked to do the best damage control I could probably do and really looking forward for next round in Les Gets!!”
Pumptrack presented by Rock Shox - 5th place
